Coping with ATS - Resume Form

Revisiting some of the items from last week (Coping with ATS - Resume File):
Candidate Name: (The advice I referred to was unclear.)
    First Last
    First Middle Last
    First M Last
    First Last-Last
(I have found no advice for dealing with a hyphenated Last Name, which is becoming more prominent.)

  General Body Form:

When I prepare (clean up) an article to forward to CollectiveNet, I 'screen scrape' (select the text content from the
webpage) and 'paste' it into the simple text editor (Notepad). Then I replace unusual characters (that are not 'Lucida Console' 'Regular' 'Western') with 'standard' characters.
E.G.: quotes, apostrophes, bullets, long dashes. Characters that I miss, show up weird in the email that I send out from my text email browser. The idea is to
make them easily readable by all. Left align your document Use at least half-inch margins Keep your information in the body of the document, and avoid putting anything important (name, email address, etc.)
elsewhere. (NO header or footer) Use standard section headings only. Use "Work Experience" not "Professional Credentials." Avoid acronyms Certified Public Accountant (CPA). OR define them clearly (maybe each usage)
'A standard' is only at the first usage, but that may not be enough. Use clear job titles ... Calling yourself a 'Director of First Impressions' when your job title is simply 'receptionist' may sound witty and cute, but it
will do you no favors. Recruiters will be searching for job titles that they know, so it's important that the job titles in your
Resume match what they have in mind. Try looking through the job description OR all the job vacancies advertised by the recruiter to see what language they use
and then mimic this in your Resume. Avoid the fluff ... Note: The CV (Curriculum Vitae) presents a full history of your academic credentials, so the length of the document is
variable. In contrast, a resume presents a concise picture of your skills and qualifications for a specific position, so
length tends to be shorter and dictated by years of experience (generally 1-2 pages). May 29, 2020 When it comes to your CV/Resume, it may be tempting to want to list all the special things that make you a wonderful
employee -- your willingness to learn, your positive attitude, your excellent work ethic. However, recruiters rarely search
for any of these terms, so feel free to leave them out. Stick to actionable skills and qualifications instead, as these are the terms that will help you beat the bots. Resume Style/Format: Many have chosen the Functional Resume format. But rather than that, I suggest that you seriously consider
the Hybrid/Chrono-Functional format. We do want to please the Hiring Managers and their HR Representatives by giving them the Reverse Chronological
Professional Experience History they are comfortable with. I prefer the reverse-chronological resume format that uses short narrative paragraphs instead of bullet items. I did a search and found this information by Googling: 'combination/hybrid resume format 2023' A combination Resume is a hybrid between the functional format resume and the chronological resume. It features a work
history section where you can list out your work experience and accomplishments, as well as a relevant skills section for
you to use bullet points to list your skills. What should a resume look like in 2023? For the majority of job-seekers, the best resume format in 2023 is the reverse-chronological resume format. This resume
format involves listing your resume information (e.g. your work experience and your education) starting with the most
recent one and going backward through relevant jobs, degrees, or qualifications. Mar 21, 2023 What is the format for a combination resume? On a combination style resume, put your work experience section below the skills-related sections. Start with your current
or most recent job. Then, enter your previous positions in reverse chronological order. Under each job, add up to two
bullet points that illustrate your responsibilities and achievements.
